The conference focuses on global policy trends for international ICT standards and the regulation of standard essential patents licensing.
Global standards for technologies such as 5G, Wi-Fi 6 and Artificial Intelligence play an increasingly critical role in modern infrastructure. In recent years, many countries have implemented policies aimed at pursuing leadership in the development of international high-tech standards. The regulation of the licensing framework for standard essential patents (SEPs) is an important component in standardisation strategies.
Against this background, the conference will discuss the effects of different measures aimed at influencing international standardisation and regulating the SEP licensing framework. The focus will be on the international dimension – how national policies are impacting global standardisation markets and the risks of fragmentation of global standards to national or regional standards.
